Hotels on the Balearic Islands off the coast of Spain have until 2027 to change all their beds to adjustable ones as part of a government scheme to protect cleaning staff and chamber maids from occupational injury.
Tourism boss Iago Negueruela said changes in the law governing the Spanish beauty spots mean all four andfive star hotels need to have beds which can be raised and lowered to help staff change sheets.
The ruling however had meant a spike in hoteliers asking for government aid to fund the changes.
Hotels who fail to comply with the legislation and don’t assist their staff by buying the new style beds face fines of 500 euros per bed.
Adjustable beds are still really only usedin hospitals, care homes andin private homesin the UK.
At Move Mobility we sell a range of adjustable beds designed to make life easier for people who find it difficult to get in and out of bed or who need to sleep in an elevatedposition for health reasons.
The beds are also considered a luxury because they can be elevated so that you can watch tv or read comfortably.
